Next steps after installing Finder

Once Finder is installed and your store has been synced for the first time, we recommend reviewing these six sections of the dashboard before publishing the search engine. This will help ensure that it is adapted to your store and works as expected.

Customization #

From Finder > Customization, you can adapt the appearance of the search engine to your store. It is divided into four tabs:

  • Interface. How Finder opens, the position of the filters menu, search box border, logo, and search delay.
  • Colors. Theme and primary, secondary, and advanced colors.
  • Products. Product box size, text size, and which fields are displayed.
  • Advanced settings. Currencies by language and custom CSS.

Please note that changes made in this section may take up to 5 minutes to be reflected in your store due to Finder’s caching system.

Filters #

In Finder > Filters, you can decide which filters appear in the search engine and in what order. Each row shows the filter group (Price, Availability, Categories, Brands, Color, etc.), whether it is active, and how many values it contains.

  • Reorder filters by dragging them so that the most useful ones for your customers appear first.
  • Enable or disable a filter without having to delete it.
  • Edit each filter to review or adjust its values.

Content indexing settings #

In Finder > Settings, you can decide which products can be found by the search engine:

  • Index all products, both in-stock and out-of-stock.
  • Index only products that are in stock.
  • Index products that are in stock and products for which backorders are enabled.

If you choose to index all products, you can enable the «By default, search only for products in stock» option so that the availability filter is applied automatically, without preventing users from disabling it if they also want to see out-of-stock products. On this same screen, you can configure an additional filter next to the search bar, a filter displayed as tabs after the search, and the default sorting order for results.

Important: if you change the indexing option, you must sync your store again for the change to take effect.

Initial content and popular searches #

In Finder > Initial content, you can configure what users see as soon as they open the search engine, before entering any search terms. When you enable «Show initial content», you can define the following for each language:

  • Popular searches. Search terms displayed as suggestions. You can also view the most frequently searched terms in your store over the last 15 days and add them with one click.
  • Featured products. A selection of products displayed before a search is performed, with the option to customize the title of this section.

Preview #

Finder > Preview loads the search engine using the configuration currently saved, just as your customers will see it in your store. You can select a store and language and open it directly from the dashboard without leaving the store. In «Advanced settings», you can also simulate the country, currency, and customer group to check how the search engine behaves in those specific scenarios.

Unlike the store itself, this view is not affected by the 5-minute cache mentioned in the Customization section, making it the quickest way to check the effect of a change immediately after saving it. In addition, searches performed here do not count towards your statistics or your plan usage.

Dashboard and statistics #

Finally, familiarize yourself with Finder > Dashboard, where you can see at a glance your current plan, the number of indexed products and requests used during the month, request history, the conversion funnel (searches, clicks, carts, orders, and sales), and the service’s profitability.

For a more detailed analysis, go to Finder > Statistics, where you can filter by store, date range, and language, and compare the data with the previous period. The information is organized into three views:

  • Overview. Key metrics (sessions, searches, clicks, click-through rate, carts, orders, sales, and conversion rate), together with a trend chart that you can view on a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly basis.
  • Searches and clicks. The most searched terms, searches with no results, searches with the most clicks, and searches with no clicks, helping you identify opportunities to improve synonyms, filters, or initial content.
  • Products. The products with the most clicks, the most additions to cart, and the most purchases from the search engine.
