The prices shown in Finder don’t match my shop’s prices

If, when searching in your shop, products appear in Finder with a price different from the one on the product page or in the cart (a different amount, a discount that is missing or shouldn’t be there, prices with or without VAT, etc.), here we explain why this can happen and how to fix it.

How does Finder get the prices? #

So that results are shown as quickly as possible, Finder does not ask your shop for the price on every search. Sellboost synchronises your shop’s catalogue twice a day and calculates the price of each product from the information managed by your platform:

  • base price
  • specific prices and catalogue rules
  • taxes
  • the visitor’s customer group, country and currency

In most shops this is enough for prices to match. However, there are two situations in which they may differ.

Cause 1: you have changed the price recently #

As the catalogue is synchronised twice a day, a price change you have just made, or a promotion that has just started or ended, may take a few hours to be reflected in Finder. In that case you don’t need to enable anything: the price will be corrected automatically in the next synchronisation.

If promotions or price changes in your shop are very frequent and you need Finder to show them instantly, you can enable the price modules compatibility mode explained below.

Cause 2: you have a module or plugin that manages prices #

Some price, discount, B2B pricing or customer-specific pricing modules calculate the price on their own, without using the native pricing system of PrestaShop or WooCommerce. Finder doesn’t know that logic, so it shows the price without the changes applied by the module.

Solution: enable the Price modules compatibility mode. With this option, Finder requests prices directly from your shop on every search and shows exactly the same price the customer will see.

Keep in mind that this will generate additional traffic to your shop’s server to obtain the prices, between 1 and 2 requests per page of products. However, these requests are cached to reduce the load as much as possible.

PrestaShop: in the PrestaShop back office, go to Modules → Module Manager, search for Sellboost Finder and click Configure. In the Settings tab, set Price modules compatibility mode to Enabled and click Save. You can find more information about this and other settings in PrestaShop module settings.

WooCommerce: in the WordPress admin panel, go to Tools → Sellboost Finder and open the Settings tab. Under Price modules compatibility mode, tick the Enabled checkbox and click Save.

Please note that, with this mode enabled, the price filter is not shown in Finder, as its range is calculated with the synchronised prices and not with your shop’s prices.

Still not matching? #

If prices still don’t match after enabling the compatibility mode, contact us and tell us:

  • one or more affected products
  • the price you see in Finder and the one you see in the shop
  • whether you were logged in with a specific customer group
